The countertop pile is electronics, not general waste

None of them belong in a household bin or a building's waste chute. - Water. Kettles, coffee machines, steam irons, humidifiers and water dispensers all keep water in a reservoir or a boiler after their last use. Empty them and leave them open to dry, otherwise the water finds the box on the way down in the lift.

Working, broken, or never going to be used here
Small appliances stop being wanted long before they stop working, which is why the decision on each one is quick.

Small appliances are planned by the space they occupy rather than by their weight, so the sensible approach is to gather them and send them out together. Put the whole group into one or two boxes, keep anything still worth passing on in a separate box, and photograph both when you book.

A small appliance is almost never thrown out at the moment it fails. It gets put back in a cupboard, moved to the top shelf when the replacement arrives, and forgotten.
